Usmanov

Cross wrote Wenger's biography using his 'unrivalled contacts at Arsenal' so this is coming from an interesting source. It's clearly just a guess though.

Felt the same as Cross until I saw that the bid was made last month, suppposedly...why it's gotten out now is the interesting part, considering possible implications of Sunday's results.

I never understood the last bit of your post and the Esk constantly bangs on about it.anov
If Kronke is so worried about the competition, why has he not reacted to City, Utd and Chelsea blowing Arsenal out the water, when it comes to spending and wages. Over the last few years.

I know Utd haven't got it quite right at the moment, but only a Matter of time before there back challenging for the title. While Arsenal struggle for top 4.

Because he cant do anything about Utd, City and Chelsea. Spurs joining the top 4/5 party is a recent, ish, turn up, one that may or may not be a sustainable one.

So why increase the competition by freeing Usmanov up to fund Everton?

He's worth 7 billion, he could do something about it if he really wanted to.

I don't follow American sport, but aren't his teams in America struggling to challenge? And if that's true then says it all about his ambition

Interesting sub plot to all this.

The FT article states that their are other interested parties in buying Arsenal

Assuming that Kroenke would be willing to sell to any other party than Usmanov, then anyone buying his shares would have a believe the legal obligation to make the same value offer for Usmanovs shares also

Effectively what he has done is one of two things.

Guaranteed by offering such an amount over the share valuations, that it will effectively scare off other buyers - leaving Kroenke unable to sell if he so wishes
OR maybe more interestingly, set a very very high price on the shares now which any buyer would have to meet effectively, with the obligation should they buy Silent Stans shares that they then have to make the same value offer for his, he'd make a cool 200m overnight on the current value of his Arsenal shares...

Says that offer was made last month but only made public today after Kroenke has yet to respond.

The leaked info on the bid is 100% from insde Usmanov's camp.

It's all about the timing, last home game of the season, Champions League looking difficult, apathy amongst the fanbase.

I'd expect a large ammpunt of supporter noise against Krnke tomorrow, problem is he really doesnt give a monkeys.

Usmanov still faces an issue getting rid of his shares. (Unless Kronke buys him out but that would mean total control, de-listing Arsenal and doing whatever he wants to them?)

You wonder also if part of this bid by Usmanov is for him to try to rally board members and fans in support of him and make them more vehemently against Kroenke.

He's basically saying, "Here's I am, I want to own this club, I haven't got a say because this Kroenke blert is stopping me, come and back me and lets drive Kroenke out by making life difficult for him. Who's with me?'

At this point he'll see how the lay of the land is and who's willing to support him. If there's no real sea change in support then he'll probably draw a line under everything and move on.

He's probably seen the fun Moshiri is having at us, now having actual control, and wants a piece of that.

The other thing with Usmanov owning 30% and not being on the board - it's not so much Kroenke not letting someone with 30% be on the board, but more Kroenke hating Usmanov's guts. Two billionaires who basically don't like each other. If someone were to buy Usmanov's shares, particularly if they were sympathetic to Kroenke's cause, then it would solidify Kroenke's power base and Kroenke's may allow them to join the board.

If things start getting sticky for Kroenke in the new few weeks/months, then Kroenke may want the extra support.

Kroenke as we've all seen is a highly successful business man.

As we've seen in US, he's not afraid of being resilient and getting what he wants. Arsenal are making him bags of money, whilst he has to invest significantly less.

What irks me is "less" still means signing Ozil, Sanchez and the like for significant money.. the fabrication that Arsenal don't spend money is false.

Whether or not the idea is Usmanov trying to force his hand is completely unknown, but kroenke isn't moving. Whether this means Usmanov moves on... I don't know.

I get the idea that Everyone sees the Moshiri link and says 2+2 = 5.

Hope it's true, but realistically, I just can't see it, at least not anytime soon.
