The article highlights just how difficult it will be for Everton to construct a new stadium with the costs involved.

£300 million could become £400 million very easily & that will not be funded by any one individual. It's going to take an awful lot of negotiation from various parties to make this work IMHO. I'm not poo-poohing it, but it's unrealistic to think this will be concluded anytime soon. I really hope I'm wrong but the figures just aren't stacking up (unless USM are in the background willing to make it happen)

I bet he said absolutely NOTHING when City set up their very dodgy deals. Could it be that the Sky favourites are getting a little bit concerned about us..?

Well, he addresses that directly in his piece...

After an examination by Uefa of Manchester City’s deals with a roster of companies based in Abu Dhabi, the country of which the club’s owner, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is a member of the ruling family, City agreed in May 2014 not to “improve the financial terms” of two “second-tier” partnerships, despite maintaining that they represent “market value”.

So at least his bias and reason for writing is obvious enough.

U wot? That whole bit came across like he was rolling his eyes slightly at the way City got round it.

Funding the stadium is a small drop in the ocean of factors that are implicating the stadium proposal.

It's a massive project, huge. the surrounding area and land the stadium to be built on is going to go through so many levels of approval.

This isn't building a new retail park stadium, it's a complete regeneration for the north docks of Liverpool.

They were pressured into stopping it. So the insinuation is that Everton should be subject to the same pressure.

That's the way I read it anyway.
