Early predictions

17th AEK Athens (Home) W 3-1
20th Blackburn (Home) W 2-1
23rd Hull (Away) D 1-1
26th Portsmouth (Away) D 1-1
1st BATE Borisov (Away) W 0-2
4th Stoke (Home) W 3-1
17th Wolverhampton (Home) W 2-0

11 points for me which will put us in better shape. Just hope Moyes plays Heitinga at right-back and Billy either left midfield or left centre midfield. Whats the point in signing these two playes for good money and leaving them to warm the bench?

Blackburn and Stoke. No.

The rest. Yes.

And I think we need to start winning them comfortably in that time because its the big guns soon and they will tear us a new arsehole...

Spurs and Man Citeh will then open that arsehole up and have a field day inside it.

*paints ugly mental picture in head

17th AEK Athens (Home)

20th Blackburn (Home)
blackburn gained 4 points from our matches last season.they arent the strongest team and havent really impressed , but then again neither have we .

23rd Hull (Away)
hull are a side that look shakey and this fixture was a draw last season.i will be very very worried if we lose this game.

26th Portsmouth (Away)
weaker side than last year .last season we lost 2-1.

1st BATE Borisov (Away)

4th Stoke (Home)
we won this game 3-1 , but stoke again look improoved and are currently playing nicer and more passionate football than us imo

17th Wolverhampton (Home)
poor quality side , but then again so are burnley and they showed us up without busting a gut.

im confident we will win the 2 euro games but just dont believe we have the balls to compete in the premier league at the moment.
i think 8 points from those games will be an acheivement but i wouldnt bet money on it.
numbers and quality aside i do actually think our whole squad lacks physical presence throughout the team (i would go as far as to say we have a team of fannys).
we need a carsley or peter reid character in the middle, somebody who is atleast slightly hard , is tough to get off the ball and likes a battle.(fellani in the second leg against sigma is the only player who comes close)

Presumably Lukaku and Barry will be eligible for the League Cup at Fulham because they're on a season long loan. Maybe Martinez will go for something like:

____________Joel
_Stones Heitinga Jagielka Oviedo
Deulofeu Gibson McCarthy Naismith
_________Barkley
_______________Lukaku

Hibbo, Alcaraz, Duffy, Garbutt, Kone, Gueye, Pienaar, Vellios and Lundstram could also be in contention even if we rest Howard, Coleman, Distin, Baines, Barry, Osman, Mirallas and Jelavic!

Newcastle (H)- They might come and defend deep, relying on Ben Arfa. We should win.
City (A)- City haven't conceded a goal at home yet. They're playing Bayern 3 days before we go there though.
Hull (H)- Hull hadn't scored an away goal before today. Another game we should win.
Villa (A)- Villa have lost both their home league games so far and we could get something there.

The next 6 games will be telling.

Everton
Liverpool (H) D
Stoke (H) W
United (A) D
Arsenal (A) L
Fulham (H) W
Swansea (A) D

3 draws and 3 wins would be a very good return. I predict 9 points.

Arsenal
Southampton (H) W
Cardiff (A) W
Hull (H) W
Everton (H) W
City (A) D
Chelsea (H) D

I predict 14 points.

Liverpool
Everton (A) D
Hull (A) W
Norwich (H) W
West Ham (H) W
Spurs (A) D
Cardiff (H) W

I predict 14 points.

Chelsea

Southampton (H) W
Sunderland (A) D
Stoke (A) W

I predict 12 points.

City
Spurs (H) D
Swansea (H) W
West Brom (A) D
Southampton (A) D
Arsenal (H) D
Fulham (A) W

I predict 10 points.

United
Cardiff (A) W
Spurs (A) D
Everton (H) D
Newcastle (H) W
Villa (A) W
Stoke (A) W

That would leave the league table like this:

1. Arsenal 40 pts (predicting a draw today)
2. Liverpool 37 pts
3. Chelsea 33 pts
4. Spurs 32 pts
5. United 31 pts (predicting a draw today)
6. City 29 pts
7. Everton 29 pts
8. Southampton 28 pts

So, we'd still be within 3 points of the CL places after a very tough run of games.

Did you used to be on the " Pools Panel " ??

Id give Southampton and Everton more recognition.

Should beat Swansea away

Swansea's home record is:

United 1-4
Liverpool 2-2
Arsenal 1-2
Sunderland 4-0
West Ham 0-0

We would do very well to beat the Swans at the Liberty.

Southampton have a very tough run of games. They have beaten Liverpool at Anfield and left Old Trafford with a point but they've only scored more than once in 4 games out of 11 and I think it will be a tall order for them to beat Arsenal, Chelsea, City or Spurs 1-0.

3 winnable home games and we'll give Swansea a good go. I'd be a bit disappointed with 9 points from 6 games tbh.

The derby will be tough. I wouldn't be disappointed with a draw even at this stage. Can we break down Stoke? The only team to convincingly beat them away so far has been Arsenal. I quite fancy our chances of getting something at OT though.
