Teams around us just keep on winning, it's so frustrating. It's going to go down to the wire, and ultimately the clubs with the weakest squads will miss out. If we don't buy a striker between now and end of January, and Lukaku gets injured shortly after, I think we'd drop to about sixth or seventh and stay there. Look at Spurs, ffs, nobody is mentioning them after their so-called nightmare start to the season... they're one point below us. And United are bound to click into gear sooner or later. The RS keep spawning results and look, unfortunately, strong, so we really need to boost the squad further than just one Aiden McGeady if we seriously want to challenge for top four. I fear we'll miss out due to other teams being stronger overall than us.

Tottenham:

Swansea (A)
Man City (H)
Hull (A)
Everton (H)
Newcastle (A)
Norwich (A)

RS:

Villa (H)
Everton (H)
West Brom (A)
Arsenal (H)
Fulham (A)
Swansea (H)

Very good set of fixtures for them there....

Why is it, that i feel so pessimistic all of a sudden?

City seem to have overcome their issues away from home. If the Nasri injury is a bad one it could affect them though. If Silva or Kompany have any problems they could have a dip.

Chelsea are still reliant on Hazard and Oscar for goals. I'm surprised that Mourinho didn't squash talk of their star man moving to PSG more firmly. It could be a masterstroke if he brings a fired up Mata back into the side for the run in.

Ozil seems to have gone off the boil. Walcott is out and Arsenal have had problems with Giroud and Ramsey. Oxlade-Chamberlain and Podolski getting up to speed could be a big boost for them though.

The RS are still so reliant on Suarez. I was hoping that he'd ran out of steam but it looks like just a little blip. Some drama will surely happen with him before the end of the season.

I know people say that we're playing attractive football but it seems like we're strolling a bit and that we could go up through the gears. Barkley, Mirallas and Pienaar definitely need to score more often. Having Deulofeu and McGeady will be a massive boost. Fingers crossed their will be one or two more additions yet.

If Spurs aren't going to replace Defoe I think they're shooting themselves in the foot. You can't play 4-4-2 with only two strikers. And if their injury worries in defence continue that could also be an issue.

Reports are that Van Persie could be out for another 6 weeks. It would surprise me if United went on a long winning streak. They're vulnerable at the back and they lack creativity. Even with a couple of high class signings I think there are too many leaks to try and plug.

We don't have the experience of a run in for the title and we don't have the firepower of a lot of the other teams. But we do have one of the tightest defences in the league and it generally takes something out of the ordinary to beat us. We seem to have learned how to score goals out of nothing and that could really help. It's going to be very, very tight though.

it ain't all bad mate so don't be too down. Remember before the Sunderland game and we had that as a 3 point home banker? **** happens so you never know what is going to happen. One thing I do know is like Petit said, we gotta go to the ****e and do them on their own patch of turd because that's the key game mentally for the lads.

I like this post Mr Copper, spot on points in my opinion. Injuries have weakened us yet we are still playing nice togger and picking up results. I mean come on, 2 ****ing defeats so far and none of us would have predicted that. We are in there, no one mentions us so the only pressure we have os what the lads put on themselves which is how footballers should always be thinking. A couple of more signings Will do us the world of good. Next week massive because we play last. Get 3 points against the baggies, stay in the mix and make sure everyone knows we aint ****ing going anywhere and we are there for the long haul.

Ranked in order of difficulty IMO

Spurs
City (H)
Everton (H)
Newcastle (A)
Hull (A)
Norwich (A)
Swansea (A)

Even Norwich at Carrow Road won't be easy.

RS
Arsenal (H)
Everton (H)
West Brom (A)
Villa (H)
Fulham (A)
Swansea (H)

They should expect to win at least 4 out of 6.

Hopefully the sides around us will focus on each other, expecting us to fall away, and we can carry on picking up points in a low key way. We haven't had a lot of options from the bench so far other than Deulofeu. If McGeady can do the business and if we can find someone to relieve the burden on Lukaku our prospects should be even better.
