These tanks seen so vulnerable. I am no expert but whatever these drones are dropping on them does not seem very sophisticated but seems to have no problem in destroying tanks with ease. Makes you wonder whether tanks are worth the effort if a simple drone dropping a mortar shell can wipe them out?

Usually artillery shells from the times of the Second World War or 60-70s are attached to such drones, since we have a lot of them in stock and there is simply no point in using them for other purposes. But Im really shocked at how easily they tear these tanks apart.

Historically, a tank's top armour wasn't required to be well protected as in most cases it was unlikely, if not impossible, for it to be hit in that position.

After that, the rear armour behind the engine was weak too. The glacis plate, side, turret and gun mantle had the thick armour, which was the main weight.

Don't forget, the T-72 was designed in the 60s and produced in numbers in the 70s. The T-80 wasn't a huge leap forward and has the same deficiencies.

Along came the Javelin and others which strike at the top of the turret - shooting along and then rising up and dropping down. These attack the same weakness.

The correct round dropped from a reasonable height will have enough to penetrate the top armour, and don't forget Russian turrets are full of ammunition.

How come Russia don’t have loads of drones? Thought that’s how all modern wars would be fought.
 
They have drones, which they're using for surveillance. The issue is that Ukraine can be careful with their armour: dig in static positions; put up air defences.

Russia have to advance and with that brings their vulnerability.

Like Everton in a relegation battle.

The Ukes also seem to be effectively employing EW against the Ru drones, jamming their command frequencies so they simply drop out of the sky.
