I honestly think theres a good chance that it comes to a head when one day he orders a tactical nuke strike, and at that moment the Russian high command has to decide whether to obey the rantings of a lunatic, or overthrow in an instant. I think they have already discussed this amongst themselves many times. Putin doesnt have a military capable of doing anything, which is why he cant declare war on anything more than Ukraine and maybe a neighbor or two. All he has, and Russia know this, is the threat of nuclear bombs.

Nah ‘83 was. Exercise able archer IIRC. Russia strategic missile command were on a war footing and detected 4 US ICBM launches. It was only this one Russian officer who didn’t believe it, suspecting a software malfunction.
If it had been anyone else they would have pushed the button in retaliation.
