I'm no military, or naval, expert, but it seems highly unlikely that even an accidental fire and explosion big enough to destroy a large ship could possibly happen without many casualties, including a fair few deaths. If all this was caused by a missile strike (which I believe) then the probability of crew killed and injured would surely go up substantially.

It’ll be 80-90% casualty. The ship was a floating bomb…….

Probably been said already, but this whole thing is weirdly reminiscent of the Sheffield in the Falklands - hit by 2 missiles, fire, sank in poor weather, while being towed. That cost 20 of our guys their lives, and there was no magazine explosion involved in that.

Sheffield was a third of the tonnage and half the complement of the Moskva….just for comparison….

Sounds about right Edge…personally I hope more got off, but I doubt it……
Supposed to be really bad weather , while it was on fire making it difficult to save them.
You would think a ship that size would have support ships nearby?
Saying that the amount of missiles ect on board must have been horrific to be on board with while it going off around you.

Apparently the rest of the Russian fleet moved a further 20 miles away from shore….
