Oh they're far from perfect , but the very nature of the free society we live in allows them to report and print whatever within reason.
We then have the choice to read them or not ( i mainly chose not to ).

I'm not sure folks in Russia have those choice's.

Look at the form the media is taking, with commentators and wind-up merchants long since having seen off the actual news. This is seen on all sides of the media, left and right.

I mean Tucker is liberally cited over in Russia and he is employed by the same bloke who dominates the media over here too. Look at how their media and ours bangs on about cancel culture, various different types of “others”, tells people to be scared, tells us we’ve got to go to war to deal with this threat the government are telling us about.

There's a spectrum of reliability - both sets of media being in the distrust category does not mean they're of the same standard.

Right now, I'd recommend to go and read the BBC, The Guardian, The Times, The NY Times and e al. Compare those with what's available in Russia right now.

Do you genuinely believe they're the same? It's like having to choose whether you'd want John Leslie or Jimmy Saville to look after your children.

Are they the same? I'm not saying our media is perfect and you'll have examples which are very concerning, but I'm talking about as a whole - the mean.

You'll be hard pressed to find anywhere near an open, objective perspective in any mainstream media in Russia.

There is no better example of that than Johnson himself, a man who is continually boosted despite a horrific record as PM and an entire career worth of lies. Even over Ukraine the focus has been on the toughness of his rhetoric rather than the effectiveness of what he has actually done, or even what is happening in Ukraine.
