Czechs are interesting example, during old Austro-Hungarian Empire, Czechs were unhappy being under Austrian rule, and a lot of them seen Russia as their hopeful liberators from Habsburg yoke.

During WW1 a lot of Czechs deserted from Austro-Hungarian army and joined Russians. Interesting how opinion about Russia changed in a century, from being seen as fraternal nation and liberators, to this.
