Yep. Looks like they are calling his bluff. Poland are giving their whole MIG-29 fleet to US and asking other Nato members to do the same. Not sure how many other countries have soviet jets.

Mate, we have like 20 planes overall. lol In use are like... 10 tops.

Poland have 28 apparently. Hopefully there are a lot more to come. Wonder if other NATO members are waiting to see what happens with Poland before offering up theirs.

Yea, he did well holding his nerve when VZ was asking for the no fly zone.
This also gives him a reasonable excuse for gas prices that were already increasing pre invasion.
Hopefully the Dems will be able to spin this. The last thing anyone needs is a wave of Trumpian pols sweeping congress later this year.

I also wonder if they waited till now to do this as we've hit a point where the Russian military is stretched, sanctions are beginning to bite and China might be wary of upsetting western markets too much.

If Putin gets a guarantee that Ukraine will join the EU but remain neutral, he should grab it with both hands. I'd imagine Crimea with it's Black sea claims is the big sticking point.

Thing is whilst Ukraine has been trying to source these extra aircraft, Russia has been forward deploying its S300 AD systems into Ukraine - they basically now cover much of Eastern Ukraine.

So the Ukes still gave a problem. They need to knock out these systems before their new aircraft can have an impact

Getting at these AD systems won’t be easy as they will be heavily defended. Be interesting to see how they approach this.
