You can understand his frustration but what he asks is no simple task and would then be reliant on a mad man not doing the crazy thing, millions could possibly die.

Part of me wants to call Putin's bluff and fight Russian forces inside Ukraine alone to drive them back out, but the safer (however still not entirely free of risk) method of sanctions to promote a leadership change is probably the best course of action...for now.

Is the Russian Air Force Actually Incapable of Complex Air Operations?

More than a week into the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Russian Air Force has yet to commence large-scale operations. Inactivity in the first few days could be ascribed to various factors, but the continued absence of major air operations now raises serious capability questions.

Does anyone really believe this MI6 /CIA propaganda? I understand in war propaganda is necessary but its really badly obvious. Russia is considered the second best army in the world behind USA. They took 1/4 of Ukraine territory in 7 days that's the equivalent of almost 60% of United Kingdom in land mass. Just like the Ghost of Ukraine and the 13 heroes of Snake Island, file under BS.

Reality is he isn't carpet bombing the place like USA did in Iraq /Afghanistan (insert other country they've invaded) because he intends to put his own puppet leader in charge and doesn't want Ukraine leveled as a country via airforce bombings.

Unfortunately the first casualty of war is the truth. I think this will be over in the less than 2 weeks maybe to 1 month max. Barring some act of insanity that starts WW3 Ukraine will be taken and Putin and the West will be back at the negotiating table.

Just my opinion and I could be wrong.

Nato issued a statement on the Ukraine and Georgia in 2008 and said they could eventually join Nato at some piont in the future.
A year later Nato stated that the reason for not opening the gateway to membership was unstable government, corruption / crime and unstable borders,
In fairness ,sadly events over the years proved they were correct at the time to be hesitant.
France and Germany in particular were against the statement, as they want neither to be admitted any time soon but as there isn't a bar on any country joining Nato ,(even Russia)
They could not just say it will never happen in those countries.
Both are in the Nato partnership for peace grouping , which means they work loosely with Nato in some aspects while not being members , lots of countries around the world are in that Japan ect,
None in that group come under the attack one attack us all , that Nato members have in place.
Nato is a defensive organisation , it main aim is to defend all of its members from attack by anyone, , there are no exclusions to that core statement , Russia / China included.
If it was as simple as not wanting to go to war with Russia , why have Poland ect been accepted?
personally I would ask to UN to saction no fly zones on humanitarian grounds ,
He would never accept it from Nato, but the very same countries would make up the policing of it in reality For the UN.
It would give people a chance to leave safely and would give Putin a bit of a face saver as he could spin it as we are not the enermy of the People and he is not the how he is currently made out to be in the west,
this gives him the opportunity for appearance sake which would fit in with his propaganda,
of not being against the Ukrainian people.
I am sure he could spin it for home consumption to look like some sort of hero.
Who cares what he says/thinks as long as the refugees from the war could leave safely.

Massive pinch of salt with everything you read atm, the machine is in full swing on both sides. We thought Covid misinfo was bad eh?

The idea that the Russian military is rubbish doesnt really make much sense when you look at it objectively. I mean the 2nd article doesn't prove anything like that either it basically just reads as "American experts shocked that Russia don't carpet bomb cities and civilians like they do". USA tactics are to take out air defenses and carpet bomb then go in and rebuild with USA contractors. So if Putin isn't planning on doing the same then why would he follow similar tactics?

Well from Putins perspective they've been doing that slowly for years. Ukraine was the last straw for him. Both sides to blame here imo. NATO need disbanded as much as Putin needs sorted for invading

But that's because they have to. Western media is hardly gonna sing the Russian praises and admit their victories. They have to make them look bad and rile up hate/ support etc. The war machine is in full effect atm. Look what they done to Corbyn because they didn't want him getting in. Multiply it by 10x for this, intelligence agencies will be feeding the news their stories and what to say while this goes on. Same for Russian news no doubt

Closing luxury stores on Sunday...this will shock many on Monday morning.


Several leading luxury brands, including Hermes, the Cartier owner Richemont, LVMH, Kering and Chanel, announced they will temporarily close stores and halt business operations in Russia.

“Given our increasing concerns about the current situation, the growing uncertainty and the complexity to operate, Chanel decided to temporarily pause its business in Russia,” the French luxury fashion house said in a post on LinkedIn.

Luxury giant LVMH, which owns such brands as Christian Dior, Givenchy, Kenzo, TAG Heuer and Bulgari among others, will close its 124 boutiques in Russia from Sunday but will continue to pay the salaries for its 3,500 employees in the country, a spokesperson told Reuters.

French multinational Kering, whose brands include brands as Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta and Boucheron among others, has two shops and 180 employees, which the company will continue to support.

While affluent Russians are keen consumers of luxury goods, analysts say the proportion of luxury sales generated from Russian nationals is small compared to the industry’s main growth engines, China and the United States.

Richemont, which also owns Dunhill, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Montblanc, Piaget, and Van Cleef & Arpels among other brands, has around a dozen directly operated stores, mostly in Moscow. It said in a statement it had suspended commercial activities in Russia on March 3 after stopping Ukraine operations on Feb. 24, the day Russia launched its invasion.

You want my opinion, it's that they don't have anything to strap to them to improve the situation. There's not a lot of point in spending jets on high-risk Wild Weasel missions to bag the SAMs if all you're doing is running an overstretched terror campaign in the north. Artillery can handle that function, and at lower operational cost.

It could be that the pilots are poorly trained, as the piece you cited argues. That hasn't stopped the Russians from committing other poorly trained personnel to assets, so I question it as the explanation.

What I see on the map tells me that Putin's current objectives are to cut Ukraine off from the Black Sea, thus crippling their exports, cut off power and freeze/starve them out in the north. It's a 21st Century siege, with attached terror campaign.
