The helicopter has gone down on land in dense fog and snow, so initial reports suggest more than likely an accident. They’re not sure about the plane.

If it’s been shot down by Russia, it’ll kick things up a level or two and may instigate the no fly zone. However, it’s a double edge sword as it could go hot very quickly.

Given the level of backing down from the west since Putin's 'reminder' on Sunday, I think nothing short of a full scale declaration of war on a NATO country would provoke their involvement.

I get all that. The UN was not designed to allow member countries to invade their neighbours.

What Russia are doing is evil.

Every country in the world should join in and bring this ego trip to a stop.

If a ever a joint force suported by every country was needed. it’s now.

The world has changed. Russia changed those rules. We either live or die with Ukraine.

If the UN do nothing and jib out, we are all guilty.

The UN cannot simultaneously stand for the rule of law and tearing up its own charter. Other means will have to be found.

There have been any number of wars of aggression since the UN was founded, including at least one initiated by every single permanent member of the Security Council. This war is not special. It's just another senseless war.

If things are to change, that means real cultural change within all five permanent members. It requires an end to American exceptionalism just as surely as it requires an end to Russia's "traditional sphere of influence" and China's regional and global hegemonic aspirations.

Looking at the melted debris from armoured vehicles and the amount that may be classified as deceased that have surrendered I think its going to be closer to 10k than 498.

If the Russians report 498 then it must be far higher.

Never been to Serbia. Like Montenegro, the bulk of the Georgia is still what the UK would consider peasantry. The large cities are progressive though, Tbilisi is fantastic
