If they take control, put in a government and the situation continues, then whose to say when sanctions drop? When the EU wants gas? When a flight to China takes 8 hours extra? When the middle east needs wheat? Depends on if China and India comes into bat for them and gives the a lifeline.
I think there's enough momentum behind this now (once Putin put nuclear on the table) that the west won't back down. They can't be seen to.
So maybe India, China and possibly Brazil resume normal trading but Russia would still be crippled.
Cracks will start forming in Belarus, Georgia, and some of the 'Stans. It'll take a huge military effort to keep Ukraine while trying to quell unrest in other countries.
I'm not sure what Germany will do for gas but having lived there, I'm sure they've thought about it. They'll have ample reserves to get them to the point where LPG shipping infrastructure can take over, They may even revert to nuclear power but I don't see them buying Russian gas any time soon.

I know im repeating myself here but i think people will be shocked at how badly the economy disintigrates over just a 7 day period.

The sanctions are brutal.

Weve seen bank runs start causing Sberbank to teeter towards oblivion.

The Swiss sticking their heads up as a neutral country. More and more countries freezing the russian central bank out.

Now Apple + Google pay dont work for the subways.

6 more days and Russia will be absolutely Benitez'd.

Doubtless a question the Germans asked in France in 1941
I don't think Germany had much problem with French occupation, France was where soldiers from Eastern front were going on temporary vacation and recuperation (before 1944)

Resistance movements in Poland and Yugoslavia were much more tougher than France

It was meant by way of an example. But certainly many Poles and Yugoslavs did not taker the occupation lying down. And it did not end well for the occupiers.
