Politics. Or 'current affairs'. We've never really got to grips with how best to handle this discussion on here. This is a new initiative we're trialing for a month. If it works, sound. If it doesn't -
we go back to;
My own view is that we're a football forum and politics divide and cause needless angst that is detrimental to the community. Approaching 10 years in February, we've always tried to discourage political threads because of the the outcome is typically a negative one.
Still, GOT is a unique beast - lots have asked for a place to discuss current affairs and this is our 'But Ok...' and we'll review. It's your platform and it's down to you to make it work.
Our advice to make this forum work;
If you are, your account will be denied access to this current affairs forum.
God speed.
[UPDATE - 2nd April 2019]
A couple of years on and the 'Current Affairs' forum has been a success. When we asked,
100% in a poll wanted it to stay.
Recently, we've had a couple of incidents were one or two have been a little overzealous or emotional - it's a real shame when some allow politics/current affairs to spoil their experience on GOT.
A reminder then that The Current Affairs forum is largely unmoderated. Our moderators take a step back from moderating. We won't/can't moderate this forum as we do the rest of the site, nor will we allow it to monopolise our time.
If we find anyone who finds this forum a bit too much, they become high maintenance and generally not suitable for this forum, we'll revoke their access to the current affairs forum.
A reminder that we also ask that issues within the Current Affairs forum, stay within Current Affairs forum. 'Leave it at the door'
