Except that Ukraine is packed with natural resources, something the Oligarch's excel at exploiting. I wouldn't be surprised if Putin is acting to realise a number of promises made over a long period of time.

The UK needs to revamp its political system as a matter of urgency, and incentivise the country's brightest minds to pursue high office.

Quite how we've ended up with the calibre of Truss, Grayling, Williamson, Patel, Dorries, Shapps(/M.Green), Raab, Coffey, etc. across numerous cabinets is just a testament to the system's inherent failure.
