Although I “liked” that post it’s a bit weird/uncomfortable doing it, because there’s certainly people who are dying on that helicopter! Dying not because they are defending their country or their freedom but dying because their absolute nutcase of a leader has sent them to a place they don’t want to be, and knowing what they are doing is so wrong!

Additionally I think the NATO guarantees may have more importance to Putin than even Donbas
The universe where the West starts hammering out a stable security structure before the shooting stops does not exist. The framework of a settlement would have to be in place to get a cease-fire, and this won't be part of it.

Only then will the Western diplomats start trying to hammer out the long-term order with Putin's diplomats, and you can bet they'll have orders to drive a hard bargain.

By the time it's hammered out and with Putin staying firm that there will be no cease-fire while talks are ongoing (thus forcing them to be quicker, which is fairly obvious, so that Ukraine/NATO can take a worse stance than they can afford) - Ukraine will be but a hole in the ground.

Seeing though it’s on the other side of the world, how did it end up belonging to us?

Oh I don’t know, seafaring nation stumbles across empty islands, people settle there for a few hundred years in peaceful tranquility, until some other nation claims to have ‘inherited them’ and then sends thousands of troops....stop either being a fool or just pretending to be one……

Talk is cheap. That's Putin's position so long as he thinks military victory is inevitable. Should that change, he'll change his tune.
