The seeds of this war were planted way before the invasion by Russia.

They were planted by western actors who saw Ukraine as easily pulled away from the sway and control of Moscow and so encouraged coups against pro-Russian politicians and political parties. The Ukrainian people were caught in the middle of all that and have suffered a terrible price for their pro-western political leaders who were and are being used as proxies in a war between Russia-China and NATO.

NATO are in disarray now. Their forward march halted. Ukraine having to sign up to this defeat peace deal means the west has suffered a massive defeat.

Did you just pull this nonsense word-for-word from one of your boy Galloway's RT shows? Shameful post, hang your head (again). Russia doesn't get a military invasion pass just because Ukraine got sweet-talked diplomatically away from their orbit.

It’s an increasingly important word - either the continent goes back to being the battleground of the “big” states, or we take over leadership of the free world and put in place a system that can start to lead to a better world for all.

Stability and defence assured is a very large beacon of freedom and safety, could Europe cope as the safe from war destination of the world?
With the chaos and death being meted out globally, the accelerator of global warming climate change a more and more common occurrence, is the will there amongst a united peoples (before any political movement) to strive for better for a humanity hell bent on self destruction?

I think this is exactly what will happen. China will over run the US and then the rest of the West will be exposed. Europe is on borrowed time both Russia and China want to expand their empire. I am in the financial industry in retirement and the UK is very exposed financially.
As long as Ukraine combats Russia is the best scenario for Europe if and when it ends expect things to move fast.

This might happen, but I think it would be a colossal mistake. Europe has two potentially massive advantages that, in a fragmented world, could be vital.

The first is the EU itself - it’s by no means perfect, but for countries it’s a fairly obvious and safe route to improvement in terms of economic performance. People like Türkiye and Serbia have disagreements with the EU but the people of each want to join genuinely, without propaganda or threats. Allied to this is that other parts of the world - Africa most obviously, Latin America also - like the idea of a similar organisation. Similar organisations usually (not always) result in similar thinking and beliefs.

Secondly is immigration and history. Whatever the pros and cons of colonialism and immigration, it’s undoubtedly produced strong links between populations at social, familial and cultural levels that can, provided it’s done respectfully and honestly, provide government links too. When the only alternatives are exploitation and hectoring from one or more superpower blocs this could be very attractive and potentially powerful.
