Zelensky better be doing deals with the EU for his rare earths after this, because I don't see too many EU taxpayers paying for Ukrainian reconstruction if the Americans are getting the spoils...

Ukraine should be repaying every nation in Europe that subsidised their hopeless war every penny handed to them.

If the US want to go to transactional politcs then we can do it that way too.

As a European, I am all for supporting Ukraine - and I don't expect to be paid back. But don't ask my taxes - or my social welfare, education, transport, and health investments - to go to Ukraine so Donald Trump can do deals with Zelensky that make mugs of all of us.

I'm all for supporting the downtrodden, but a country that's ruled by neoliberals, gangsters and neo-nazis can GTF.

I don't have much time for the Ukrainian leadership, but everything is relative in that part of the world. To be fair to Zelensky, I don't see him doing too many deals with this US government if their stance is as stark as was laid out today in reality.

There won't be anything in it for Ukraine if we are to believe the sex pest who made that address today.

They have no choice though: everyone knows in Europe and the US that they've lost that war and there's been 3 years worth of military aid costing hundreds of billions and they simply cant get troops onto the battlefield now in sufficient numbers.

Any move to calling up 18 year olds will cause mayhem too.

It's over for Ukraine, they need to get as good a deal as they can from the US who can prop them up in negotiations with Russia with promises on ending sanctions as a sweetener, and possibly lean on China and offer them economic trade offs if they lean on Moscow too.

Zelensky has led Ukraine into a catastrophe by not doing a deal earlier and with less lives lost.

He's an oligarch and NATO puppet and he'll pay the price in the end too.
