It's a desperate last resort move from a Ukrainian leader who knows the jig is almost up for him and his government.

The worst thing Washington has said so far for Zelensky et al is not that they'll end the wr, but that they'll make sure elections are done this year.

Being held to democratic accountability is far worse an outcome than being dragged to the negotiating table for that tin pot leader.

It is really sad what you have done to this account. The previous/original/proper DaveK handler had perfected the contrarian spin, which was fun, but this is now just a stain on GOT and a facade. It is now just a clagnut dangling across the forums.

Maybe a ceasefire should be agreed now and stop any more needless deaths.

The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has said he would agree to direct talks with Vladimir Putin to end the war. “If that is the only set-up in which we can bring peace to the citizens of Ukraine and not lose people, definitely we will go for this set-up,” adding that he would also require other “participants” to be present. “If people believe we must move to the diplomatic track, and I believe we are ready to move to the diplomatic track, there must be the US, Europe, Ukraine and Russia [at the talks],”

This is all bollocks positioning now to claim a 'victory' from the ashes of defeat.

Trump will impose a deal on Ukraine and the land they lost will be lost forvever. Zelensky has allowed his nation to be used as a laboratory to test Russia's resolve and the price his people had to pay is about 100,000 dead, 400,000 injured, about 6 million of them displaced across Europe and their towns and cities turned into rubble.

That's what defeat looks like.

I just try and ignore these Russian monsters now, tbh.

The whole world knows what that country is and only a few autocrats and dictators who will ever treat them as anything other than a pariah...maybe the Reform here too, but even here right now there's no room for embracing their toxicity.

They admitted as much previously, but let’s be honest, economic gain is what wars are about, for the most part. Putin and his oligarchs need more yachts.

It’ll be interesting to see how far Trump and his circle’s greed plays into this. And let’s not forget, tech bros want to tech, which is another reason the U.S. is so interested in Greenland.
