I firmly believe this war is nothing but a huge land grab . Putin and his cohorts have a vision of restoring the old USSR.
If it was allowed to go ahead without Ukraine getting help to defend itself there would be nothing to stop him taking all the other surrounding countries that have chose independence , hence why they want the security of NATO's umbrella.
He wants to be the all encompassing Super power of bygone days.

I don't much do politics, but I know what a despot is when I see one , he wants to go down in history as the Great ruler of a huge empire. Any opposition is squashed by whatever means and rules by fear.

He could stop this carnage including the Russian citizens he uses as cannon fodder for further advances into Ukraine.
It an utterly criminal waste of human life.
Again , he could end this ....Instantly.

It's a bullshit narrative though, Putin is an imperialist, yet he waits 25 years before acting upon it, he also gives numerous warnings and opt outs along the way.

Why, because I understand the vast complexity of the situation. I don't live in either a Kremlin bubble or a western one. I've lived in both places. I read both sources, way more western ones in fact as I'm aware fully of the media here.

So yes I wish the invasion hadn't happened, yup 99% of Russians do as well, do I understand why it happened also yes. Do I think the west doesn't really care about casualties as it's slavs killing slavs - damned right I do. Do I think this would have been resolved easily without western interference (namely the UK and neocons us elements) then yes.

Btw I've never for one second felt in danger in Russia, walking the street late at night etc, I often did in Liverpool - make of that what you will.

Zekensky with the strike of a pen and standing up to the right sector/Azov, could have prevented any loss of life fully, he chose not to implement minsk 2 - which implementing was his massive campaign promise - which is why he was overwhelmingly voted for in the ethnic Russians regions too.

He walked away from talks when pressured by the US/UK and his own nationalists, again when he could have ended all this.

Maybe the Ukrainians that left didn't think fighting for a group of corrupt oligarchs who all have their kids living the high life in Europe was worth it, especially when it was all just in the interests of the west trying to weaken Russia and go line their own pockets and the US MIC.

Learn some history. Operation Sea Lion/Battle of Britain saw almost 30,000 British nationals killed. Many of them were fighter pilots who were very definitely fighting an invasion force.

Then there was his voluntary hiatus, returning with the intention to rise above it all and stay clear of Ukrainian war debates.
