Why have US taxpayers stump up when the Israelis will fill the order books?
Actually, the land that has gone and is about to go is the mineral wealth. Next up is the agricultural wealth and that is probably earmarked to repay for the support which will be lost money if Russia takes it over. Perhaps it is time to pull the plug for the powerful people with financial interests in Ukraine's resources/ conflict.

The video of the Russians shooting, and murdering that unarmed injured Ukrainian shoulder is barbaric.
And is it possible the US want to grind Russia down so are keeping Ukraine in the game with the bare minimum?

If I agreed with you, we’d both be wrong.
That's exactly what's happening, giving Ukraine just enough so they don't lose but nowhere near enough to win. It's a decent gameplan from NATO after all the reason for NATO was to combat Russian aggression, Ukraine are doing this for them for a fraction of the cost... Russia are in a position now that they really aren't a threat to anyone anymore and for quite some time.

It's all choreography now.
This will all be done through backchannels. Trump might hire a hawk to make it look like a negotiated settlement through the threat of escalation (maybe) but behind the scenes Trump will be telling Putin what the steps are to secure what they've seized.
How could it be anything else?
There'll be an irony that Trump will leave office with a Nobel Peace prize.
