No one believes the media, West or Russian, but why are you continually decrying the efforts of the Ukraine people, while extolling the ‘might’ of Russia, when it looks like they are doing a a bit of a Stalingrad on Russia….a bit of even handedness wouldn’t go amiss….

Yeah, and on the occasions when unverified information has been shared, more often than not somebody has corrected the record when that is brought to light.

That's the difference, when you're on the right side of history you don't need to rely on lies... unlike others.

Not necessarily - there’s still the thought that for example the Ukrainians have somehow ‘stopped’ the Russian advance the last couple of days - when the Russians would say they’ve simply held back their forces.

Whose lying? I don’t know, but the both sides are equally convinced and don’t hold back from repeating their claims.

Yet here, only the Ukrainian claim is deemed valid.

Surely to be folks here with more of a banking background than I have but if a bank cannot participate in SWIFT does it call into question the solvency of that institution? Makes me wonder if word get out there may be a run on banks in Russia starting Monday.

Seen some rumours of Czech bank runs of Russian banks there but @Bruce Wayne might have more info on that

Maybe that'll work, but will it work with Putin?

It has to, the alternatives are at best horrifying and at worse unthinkable.

So far this war is busily creating the two things that probably give every Russian government sleepless nights (a relatively united west and a military that looks weak and incompetent because of what he asked them to do). I am not sure he'll reverse course either.

It would be worth almost anything to get him to stop this - not in terms of selling out Ukraine, but trying to coax him back into the global community.

Not sure it's a big deal as it's made out to be, China and/or India are readying another international payment system from all accounts.

Read a couple books from Jim Rickards some years ago about this. Quite prescient. The one was Currency Wars. Forgetting the other title atm

So your gripe is that the west is bigging up the success of Ukraine's defence so far?

Is it disinformation to show goodwill to a nation trying to prevent a fascist invasion of their country?
Is it disinformation to highlight the relative success of an inferior force facing down an aggressor?

Or is it just human?
