NATO and the EU are completely separate entities. You cannot munge them together as per your argument.

Also ask yourself this simple question. Would the Baltic Nations exist today as independent sovereign nations if they hadn’t joined NATO?

The answer will provide the reasoning for them joining NATO. There is no other reason other than national security and integrity in the face of a real threat to their nationhood.

100% spot on @Mutzo Nutzo

The NATO treaty includes a mutual defence clause and includes non-European countries in the North Atlantic region

The Treaty of the European Union, does include a mutual defence clause within it, so non-NATO members that are EU members would be obligated to assist any member invaded

They are two parallel and binding treaties that are in position.

Edit. The EU's mutual defence provisions were added later, in the Treaty of Lisbon in 2007

Obviously this is simply in addition to any NATO obligations that NATO members have and/or includes non-NATO members that are EU members etc etc etc @Mutzo Nutzo

Quite simple.

Your mate ceases the Special Military Operation as you`ve called it very many times and hands back all the land he`s illegally occupying.
Well that's not going to happen unfortunately.

So, pragmatism has to be the way forward in order that no more lieves are lost in a conflict that's killed a million people already.
