He would have avoided nothing, he just would have told the Russian aggressors that Ukraine was getting no support. Freedom to rape and pillage.
You can also add torture to the list. Some of the things I’ve seen on Telegram are absolutely sickening. The Russians’ treatment of Ukrainians is among the worst I’ve ever seen. I think those who defend Putin have no idea just how bad it really is.

So much for the "socialists" being the only ones willing to stand up to the fascists.

The Russians faced all its assets abroad frozen, its economy cut off from the global financial system, and the all important energy exports to western Europe clamped.

It was a huge trauma to face up to but they have adapted very well. New markets have been forged in the east and the global south. Russia's economic growth was at 5.4% in Q1 of 2024, slowing to 4% in Q2.

Compare that with the UK's meagre growth or EU big nations.

That growth was entirely down to military spending. That it won't be able to maintain

4% of a small number is a small number @davek

Apart from the childish insults he uses I cant hear anything to contradict there.

This war could have been avoided, and the escalation is a threat to us all.

On those two major statements he's 100% correct.

Nato doesn't invite countries to join. Sovereign states request to join

Typically as they don't want Russia dictating their internal affairs

Interesting assessment and insight from ISW of the current situation regarding Kursk.

An awful lot to get your head around in there….

Not sure if it’s posted in here but rumours that Russia’s 155th Marines were used for an ambush in Kursk today.

If that’s true it shows that Ukraines push in that direction has worked, think that unit were previously in Kharkiv.

@davek not the economic superpower you were claiming, eh dave?

Where did I claim Russia was an economic superpower?

I stated that the attempt to bring Russia to its knees was foiled by them adapting their economy to different markets, which they did to success, as measure by their economic growth figures.

There's also reports of a lot of casualties suffered by the Ukrainian expeditionists.

I suspect they'll pay heavily for what amounts to a stunt with zero strategic importance.

Yep, just like I said about the ambush.

We’ll find out what the idea of the Ukrainians are in the future but to say there’s no zero strategic importance simply isn’t true.
