There’s talk about the Ukrainian’s capturing a key gas pipeline into the EU from Russia. Do they want to keep it or will it now be out of order?
It's hard to understand what the purpose of the incursion is? Guts of 2,000 men and associated motorised riffles etc diverted from the front? Here's a summary of the situation from ISW.

It seems to have caught everyone by surprise. The Uke soldiers apparently took control of the Sudzha gas station. This is the only operational pipeline supplying Europe. They're also close to a nuclear power plant so might see this as a possible bargaining tool. It's hard to understand what the purpose of the incursion is? Or is this the Russian legion again?
They were talking about it being one of the Russian legions yesterday, but now that it's actual Ukrainian forces. It's hard to understand what the purpose of the incursion is? Guts of 2,000 men and associated motorised riffles etc diverted from the front?

Well one may be they divert troops away from other areas, which will lessen their ability to attack along other parts of the front.
If it sews seeds of doubt into Russian commanders, it’s purpose is clear to see.
I see the trolling has begun.Imagine the uproar if Ukraine followed the Russian playbook and said they'd held a referendum and the Kursk regions had voted to become Ukrainian![]()

They have absolutely no shame!I love that Russian phrase of ‘large scale provocation’. Obviously aimed at its own populace, who if not now shortly must see the enormous loss of life in the Russian army. They’ve spent a couple of years invading, murdering and destroying whatever they could in Ukraine, now there’s a small incursion into Russia it’s deemed a ‘large scale provocation’…
