Heaven forbid a ceasefire is negotiated and young Ukrainians stop being slaughtered. Far better even against the expert opinions of American military intelligence it stays in an attritional stalemate with the death toll growing daily.

Everyone desires a ceasefire, even probably Putin due to the cost in manpower, equipment etc. However, a ceasefire can only come when it's palatable.
Right now, a ceasefire under the terms Putin and co. are offering would only benefit Russia in the long-term, so why would they agree to it?
Yeah, people dont want a ceasefire, they want Ukraine to roll over and let Russia win.
They want Ukraine to halt where they are, in a position that would facilitate Russia achieving its long term goals, and would leave Ukraine in a perilous position.

Because as it stands it's getting worse for Ukraine by the day? And you honestly believe Putin cares about manpower losses. He wants as much land as possible before the US election and doesn't care who dies for him to get it. It was clear to the US when those military security papers were leaked what was going to happen. A ceasefire should have been negotiated then. All that's happened since is Ukraine has lost more land and men. But hey Slava Ukraine

And that's realistically going to happen?Every day Russia are talking more Ukrainian land and killing more Ukrainians,you can wish for whatever you want,but then you aren't paying the price.

You keep banging on about these leaked US military papers like some kind of weird mantra. These documents started to be released in early January 2023. The stuff that was pertinent to the Russia / Ukraine war (the point you keep making) related to supposed US analysis of the war in the Donbas region only.
It stated that the US could only see a stalemate in that region as the outcome. The assessment was made based on manpower, heavy armour, training, intel, tactics and available arty capabilities at the time (early 2023).
You have to be mindful that the war is being waged in a far wider scope than just the Donbas region (Luhansk, Donetsk oblasts). The war now includes Zaporizhia, Karkhiv, Kherson and Sumi oblasts. Also many things have changed in the Ukrainian Military since the reports were leaked. New tactics, new military leadership, new weapons and ammunition finally provided by the US and a relaxation of the rules of engagement allowing Ukraine to attack muster points and strategic targets inside Russia.
At this time no-one is winning the war but one thing is known for certain and that is Russian’s are dieing in their thousands every day. I don’t care how many Putin mobilises -they just go to the front and end up getting slotted. Putin recruits 30000 a month just to backfill his losses - Something will eventually break given these casualty rates.
Ukraine will keep on fighting - they and only they, will decide when it’s time to negotiate.
