Whilst I believe that the military targets in Crimea are legitimate targets, I don't understand the glee people take in this.

Victim blaming seems like an odd take here. If you lived next to a beach with kids in the same place as generations of your family had lived, why wouldn't you especially as the school holidays there are for 3 months from the end of May.

Absolutely, and this wasn’t even a target anyway - it was the result of an air defence missile intercepting it.

Those who we should be blaming are sat safely and in comfort many hundreds of miles away, not the innocent people trying to go about their lives as normally as they can. A curse on Putin and his rat bag cronies.

Difference in doing what is a necessity ie hospital or getting supplies in or hiding out in a building that ends up being attacked.. compared to going out for a nice day with the kids... would you walk through a high crime area in your town or city waving a hand full of 50s over your head? The person that would mug you is the criminal you would be the victim but it is still legitimate to ask why would you do such a stupid thing even though you haven't done anything wrong. Personal responsibility isn't something that should be forgotten... "is it a good idea to head for the beach with the kids when there's a massive war going on? No, probably best not to go then"..

It'd probably be more accurate to describe the 'settler' Russian population in Crimea as being akin to the Jewish settlers in Palestine. This 'seeding' is part of the Russian strategy for claiming territory, as with Israel.

I think the difference here is that Ukraine was targeting a military site and the civilian casualties on the beach were a result of a Russian SAM intercept.

Russia has and continues to knowingly target Ukrainian civilian areas and infrastructure causing thousands of casualties.

Unfortunately as in all wars it’s the civilian populations who bear a heavy price. In this instance the people of Crimea should be pointing the finger at their lunatic leader as he’s the root cause of all this crap.
