It's likely pure nonsense like you're implying, however an alternative (somewhat slim, I'll admit) is for them be sent over there, trained and then using them.

Think of the Condor Legion in Spain for example, who were sent over to gain vital experience against what was ultimately an inferior opposition.

Instead of throwing them straight into the mixer, some 'live' experience would be beneficial, and it's not like Russia will care about some dead Syrians paying for it.

It would give Syria assistance, too.

Maybe, but they do have a war themselves where they can do that!

You're right, and like I said I doubt it's correct or, as a minimum, as accurate as they are stating. Yet, if you were talking about risk...

... getting your first few goes against the Syrian people with far less experience or capabilities themselves (air defence etc.) would be easier than Ukraine itself.

Shayrat airbase again FFS! It has to be one of the most bombed places in history.

I recall the US levelling it with Tomahawks back in 2017 and it’s also been hit many times by Israel.

The place reminds me of Mordor as it’s full of evil types planning evil things.
