Did you read that article?

It's spot on.

The best on offer for Ukraine now is a Biden re-election whereby a negotiation for peace would at least have the strength of a threat to Russia of continuing the war to force them to the table.

All thoughs of a Ukrainian victory now have been dispelled. They don't have the manpower, weaponry or expertise for it.

Did you read my question?

It appears unanswered.

Not talking about economic strengths. Military has been weakened to a point that will take a generation to build back up.
Yes, but the experience of this war will have handed them a massive strategic lesson in modern field warfare. Manpower isn't an issue. The different sources of procuring weapons for them has been a plus and - as all wars do - they've seen their own arms production increase as a result of a wartime economy shifted over that way (even if they don't call it a war) - necessity is the mother of invention.

I don't want to see either west or east win.

As an internationalist I see two power-blocs that I have no stake in.

Ah like a political centrist? You're in good company on here with that approach.

And unless I've got my geography very wrong I'm pretty sure that living in Wigan means you should have a stake in the safety and security of the West, International Centrist man of mystery or not.

A Putin, tory supporting propogandist. The centre is some way to his left.

No... they'd get annihilated if they had to face a modern army.. they've faced no modern aircraft, no modern long range missiles no modern well trained army, what they have faced is hastily trained men with equipment that the west decided was enough to weaken Russia to stop them attempting a similar stunt again. 1 fully equipped US carrier group would have ended this war long ago.

NATO countries handed the Ukrainians the play sheet they wanted back in the summer for the counter-offensive. The Ukrainians were slaughtered.

They have a lot more to learn in terms of modern warfare than the Russians now.

Do you not think that NATO also learn from experience?

If it is as you say a war by proxy then surely that would be one of the points.
