However, in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, since 24 February 2022 the Ukrainian government has enacted martial law, and Ukrainian law does not allow elections to be held when martial law is in effect. If martial law is still in place, the elections may be postponed and rescheduled.


A poll released that same month reported that 80% of Ukrainians do not want to have an election until the war is over.

The best on offer for Ukraine now is a Biden re-election whereby a negotiation for peace would at least have the strength of a threat to Russia of continuing the war to force them to the table.

All thoughs of a Ukrainian victory now have been dispelled. They don't have the manpower, weaponry or expertise for it.

Depends what the plan was... I've said all along that the plan was likely to weaken Russia enough that they were no longer a threat in conventional war.. that plan has been well and truly achieved.. hence the backing off of aid to Ukraine.
