Russia thought it'd walz through Ukraine in days but instead has seen all its initial objectives end in defeat. They've been forced back and are now hiding behind defensive lines for the most part. These are in the process of being breached, but it will take a bit more time to complete this and cut off the land bridge. Russia has even managed to lose the black sea battle to Ukraine, who doesn't have a recognised navy. Pretty much all their regular Russian army has been wiped out and they're recruiting criminals and press ganging minorities. They've lost that much kit that they have had to go begging to Iran and North Korea. Its been a shambles and embarresment for a country wanting to be seen as a world class military power.
