The US and NATO aren’t ready to fight the type of war that exists in Ukraine.

It ties in with reports that the NATO has nothing left to give now - the cupboard is basically bare.

And surely even you are not going to try and kid yourself that if the full power of NATO was on the frontline, Russia would not be back inside their own country in a matter of days.

As I have suggested before Putin has miscalculated the long game. Expect another year or two of stupidity then an overtone of temporary peace. This will kick off again some time in the future bet on it.

I think Ukraine is a long way off joining the EU, even if the war ended today. It takes a massive effort and a lot of time to get a country ready for accession.

They're on the road to it though, as they were in 2013 before Putin's phonecall with Yanukovych, which arguably was the first shot of this war.

Maybe with some strings attached. EU needs to have a long gestation period before ultimately putting Ukraine on an equal footing.
