I did copy it from there yes as it was quicker for me to copy a short and what I consider to be reasonably accurate assessment

He’s no saint I am not calling him perfect by any means.

I believe he has indeed taken money for himself and for other beneficiaries

But Russia is a much more prosperous country than when he took over - yes due to oil etc but he was the one who pivoted in that direction.

I believe he has genuine concerns in Ukraine regarding ethnic Russians and NATO interference.

He’s genuinely popular amongst the Russian people and I don’t believe that’s simply because they are too scared to go against him.

The only fears they may have are a return to the nineties and the west ‘punishing’ them again for ‘disobedience’

I’ve read the book and see that particular quote as being representative in terms of the points it puts across.
