Fair enough if you see it differently. I honestly don't see too much difference between foreign policy experts and the intel agencies themselves. I think there is a very blurred line between many of them. Many of these same experts are labelled as 'ex intel' officials and in that line of work unless you have resigned in utter disgrace I don't think there is such a thing as an 'ex intel official'. Even young up and coming foreign policy/intel wonks are going to have excellent contacts in the foreign policy/intel field. It's all(by it's nature) a very murky field.

TBF the best giveaway for who is leaking is what they leak.

If its sensationalist crap, it adds illustration and depth to existing stories and especially if it comes with commentary about "what it means", then its almost certainly the political side. They often claim they are intel / ex-intel but invariably they are just advisors who have access to reports that have been put together for their bosses and are usually leaking on their bosses orders.

Genuine intel leaks are much rarer, and much more heavily punished (in that they are actually punished).

NATO is fully aware that this scenario could unfold and have spent the last 6 months training and planning for it. They know Russias red-line over Crimea, so I think that for all Zelensky’s rhetoric on re-taking Crimea it’s not a reality as the pressure from the US will dictate this doesn’t happen.

To bring Russia to the table at the right time there has to be a perceived threat that Ukraine will try to retake Crimea.

Zelensky probably does want to retake it but if they can get a declaration that Russia will leave all other territories in exchange for them keeping it least it opens up an avenue for discussion. If he came out and said he's not interested in it at all the power goes back in Putin's hands.

MAD only works if you are convinced there will be a serious response to the initial strike. You are convinced that there would be a massive response regardless of where the strike takes place - I am not, based on the US not being attacked itself.

And I dont see how you can say why would Russia do this or that for fear of annihilation, without asking the same questions of NATO.

To be fair, none of this is going to happen anyway, as we can see the Ukrainians are completely running out of steam now, they cant even get men to fight any more.

Six months ago you would never have dreamt you'd have seen these pieces in Western media.

Just to give you an example of how ridiculous the Kiev regime has become, no university courses are permitted to be taught in Russian, yet the Ukrainian 'language' isn't developed enough to have the technical terms required, as it originated from the peasantry in the villages and hamlets and hasn't really developed much beyond that. So educators are pretty much stuck as the technical language doesn't exist let alone any relevant textbooks in whatever pidgin language passes for 'Ukrainian'

Source please.

Just search for it yourself, I'm not doing your research for you. its widely known.
I’m sorry Kevin, I’m quite interested in languages and teaching but can’t find any source for this anywhere.
Is Ukrainian really such an ‘undeveloped’ language that it can’t be used for teaching? Have to say I find this all hard to believe.

Weird, this article says that the Ukrainian language is actually older than Russian.

general teaching yes it probably can, but when it comes to University level courses with technical terms in many cases it can't.

Just to add @Kev The Rat making general statements that a ‘language’ isn’t developed enough to handle technical terms sounds very much like racist propaganda to me. Unless you are a linguists expert and can back this claim up. I could well be wrong as I’m not an expert on the local dialects or languages.
Have spoken to university lecturers in Kiev via Skype actually who confirmed they are stuck

Looks like the Ukes whacked a Ru S-400 AD system in Crimea. Big blow to the Russians as it was their primary AD asset in Crimea.

Main talking point here is why didn’t the S-400?system detect either the observation drone or the incoming StormShadow/SCALP missile?

Anyways that’s $400million worth of kit wiped out in an instant

The fact that a Ukrainian drone worth a few grand was able to get close enough to film the destruction highlights the utter incompetence of the Russian AA operation.

The Ukrainians sent a few drones from the black sea that the Russians shot down, thus allowing the Ukrainians to pinpoint the location of the S 400.
