Yep, especially considering massive losses Russian army suffered and 90% of its assets being on the front, someone like Prigozhin with his private army holding a lot of cards.

This today was proof enough, columns advancing toward Moscow with virtually zero resistance
Spot on. I have military professor whom we do a speakeasy every so often He suggested this during the early stages of this special operation it seems Putin has been hoodwinked most of it by his corrupt circle.

That was a popular conclusion from the moment the tanks bogged down on the road to Kyiv. Any political leader has problems with information flow. Dictators with a penchant for killing political opponents have very large problems with it.

What I didn’t realize is that Putin had adversaries whom want him out. Either he was a warmonger or to easy on his opponents. Opulent lifestyles have clouded the elite and they tried to cling to it until they feared for their own lives. Belarus and Armenia will side with the West.

Regardless of the motives for wagner turning back, Putin has lost all credibility as a strong leader.

The russian civilians must be scratching their heads watching a group of mercenaries holding their nation to ransom and the pitiful attempts from the Kremlin to slow them down while their leaders all went into hiding.
He sadly now needs a show of strength.

Don’t be so sure. Time will tell however.
A proper coup looks like this: sneak overwhelming force into the capital somehow, shoot the first few people who dare to resist, and let everyone else get the message that you're the new sheriff in town. Kill the incumbents, if they have an independent power base. Capture them, if you were the power base.

History has plenty of examples of people who rose in armed rebellion against a lawful government, like this. That's a little more chancy.

Every dictator has powerful political opponents. Going about this war in the way that he did, which cost the oligarchs that propped him up a great deal of money, made him a lot more internal enemies with some clout than before.

@trueblue84 Putin's position is indeed very precarious, now. The military is the kingmaker, and Putin is also dependent upon the Chinese for financing.

China relies on Russia also.

Will be interesting to see how many of his backers ran for the hills this morning.
