I'll state again I find the invasion of Ukraine abhorrent and for Putin to try to pretend it's to cleanse the country of Nazis is ridiculous.

I'm not denying the story. I'm just wondering if this now justifies Putin's war as one of an innocent anti-nazi cleansing in your eyes?

Obviously not,but it does show the cracks starting to form in the Western propaganda narrative. I had a quick skim through this thread looking for comments on the leaking of US intelligence papers that predict the outcome of the war as being a long drawn out stalemate. Now I trust US military experts against the faux forum Call of Duty variety so it begs the question how many innocent Ukrainian women and children will need to die in the futile attempt to eject Russia from Crimea and the Donbass? I'd just like to see a ballpark figure,tens of thousands? Hundred thousand? More?
And the recent call for Putin to be called before a war crimes court I agree with, but find it hard to square that with Bush and Blair making small fortunes on the after dinner circuit when they are guilty of the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians using a similar preposterous excuse for the invasion of a sovereign country.

It's not up to us Dave. The Ukrainians want to keep fighting, and I would say justifiably so. The Russian objective was the removal of their head of state and annexation of their country, there's no compromise to be had. The Crimea wasn't enough for them, and whatever bits of land and territory that would form part of a treaty (which is ludicrous considering Russia started this) probably won't be enough for them either. That's assuming they would even consider such a treaty, and my guess is they wouldn't. Ukraine barely have any choices but to fight

As for all that Blair and Bush nonsense, I'll stick it in the bulging Davids Whattaboutery file

This strange term whataboutism, it appears to be a new phrase to try to disguise the hypocrisy of ignoring the US/Nato geopolítical games in the Middle East and the civilian deaths it caused. Ignoring it won't bring back the dead Iraqis,Libyans and Afghans. I take it by your post you don't believe the US intelligence papers and the information given by their military experts showing they believe that the Ukraine can not win the war and it's bound for stalemate? And as for the Bush Blair question being nonsense....they found those pesky weapons of mass destruction yet? I await your estimate of the number of innocent Ukrainian women and children that will be acceptable to sacrifice (but I won't hold my breath)
