Only partly the issue, even if this does sound cold hearted. A deliberate attack on Poland or a stray missile is very different to one shot at and therefore flying off course.
We had drone (old Soviet model) fall on our capital in Croatia already in March. Right in the center of the city, and we never got answer how it managed to broke through from Ukraine undetected. It flew through 2 different NATO countries (Romania and Hungary) and all AWACS and other radar stations reported nothing.

The Ukraine missile that shot it down might have knocked out just the tail, so when it hit the ground it still impacts like it would have, just not the intended target.

Well, presumably, it could be a missile knocked out of the sky by Ukraine, I suppose. Not excusing Russia in this, as any sensible country wouldn't be aiming strikes close neutral borders, in any case.

Perhaps, but probably not... two missiles have struck the same village. If these two missiles had been intercepted mid-air, the fragments would fall and spread over a larger area. For two missiles to hit the same village would suggest a targeting error.

Don't think it was ever considered a deliberate attack.
A Russian action has resulted in the death of 2 Polish nationals.
Think the concern here is the speed with which the US confirmed the incident.

Pentagon said they couldn't confirm or deny anything in their briefing, while Russians (officially) claiming those are S-300 fragments.

I guess we need to wait what Polish investigators on the terrain gonna report

They need to be of a certain size and speed to be picked up I believe.

I’m sure there will be lots of excuses put up for Russia effectively bombing Poland. I wonder if the same excuses would be offered up if a wayward missile hit Moscow or Rostov-on-Don…….NATO should up the game in supporting Ukraine, give them whatever weapons the ask for and tell Russia, once is a mistake, twice is an attack……
