I find that very difficult to believe to be honest - getting control over that dam has restored the water supply to a big chunk of Crimea. Blowing it up totally (especially if it was a precursor to pulling back) would cut the supply via the canal again.

I have my doubts about it myself but the Ukrainians will presumably just block up the canal again so (assuming the Russians don’t think they can regain Kherson anytime soon) would they be in any worse position re Crimea water supply?

Also considering the 'separatists' were led by FSB agents and supported by Russian Army units I wouldn't really say it was ever a civil war.
