Tbh it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility if in the early days of the buildup if the USA intelligence agencies didn’t share exactly everything they knew - they are pretty keen on keeping sources confidential and if they had someone close to Putin who said ’this is the date‘ I would imagine they wouldn’t have broadcast it much for fear of exposure.

But once stuff was available by more conventional means, eg satellites, I would have thought they would share it, they certainly seemed to be doing a lot more public discussion than usual and it was in everyone’s interests and were virtually jumping up and down shouting ‘Russia is going to invade” near the end.

It was pretty clear that the US was trying to deter the invasion by publicizing the buildup without burning sources and methods. Biden et al obviously wanted all of the US allies to clearly communicate what was going to happen, in order to put as much weight as possible on the "don't invade" side of the scale.

Russia will pay dearly for starting this war. With all the western sanctions, they'll be dragged back to the days of fighting it out, for the last available loaf of bread at the shop soon enough.

Explains why getting tourists back over the bridge ASAP is a big priority. Gotta make hay while the sun shines.
