2025/26 Tyler Dibling

Im happy to give him the year, with time here and there - certainly be chance in the next 12 weeks for him.

Really you want him starting when Jack goes back City and Illy moves back across to the left.

You really want him starting when Illy goes to the AFCON, which I assume is the why he`s being eased in the way he is at the mo.

Sure, I don’t have an issue with it mate, he’s close to our record signing, so the assumption has to be he comes into the team at some stage, to do that we need to blood him.

I quite like having the luxury of bedding him in.

….he’s being ‘eased in the way he is’ because he’s done nothing to earn more game time. There’s no development strategy at play here, if Dibling was showing himself to be really effective then he’d be playing more. I’m sure Moyes would love it if Dibling was providing a better option.

AFCON isn’t that far away, hopefully Dibling starts to demonstrate he can be an able deputy but I wouldn’t take it as a given.

I think though you have to acknowledge the ceiling is high mate, Illy was/and is consistently our top scorer while he’s posting almost in the top 5 of every metric for creative midfielders in the league if not top in some.

Then we aren’t messing with Jack paying him 250k a week.

It’s a high ceiling to get into the positions he’s competing for, you only have to look at McNeill too.

As I said I quite like we have the luxury of bedding him in and both he and McNeill will get chances in The next 12 weeks -100% sure of that.

….absolutely. He’s definitely not getting in ahead of those two but he’d be getting used more if he was genuinely pushing for a place. Based on what I’ve seen, I wouldn’t say Dibling is a shoo-in to cover for Ndiaye and he really should be.

When was the last time we could have happily quoted your last sentence.

….he’s proved himself to be a fine manager. Managers have to be single minded, they have to stick to what they believe is right as it’s impossible to pander to the wishes of every fan and pundit.

You want to start playing Dibling at no10 even though he’s not shown anything to suggest he should start games, lots want him to play Alcaraz at no10, and Moyes thinks KDH is his best option at no10. He’s never going to keep everybody happy, top managers go with what they believe.

There’s a reason we’ll be doing what we do today whilst Moyes is taking charge of his umpteenth top flight football match.
News to me.

You really think if dibling in the limited cameos he's been afforded, somehow distinguished himself, would be starting over Moyes preferred attacking three of KDH, Ndiaye or Grealish? I don't think it would matter as it didn't improve Alcarez's chances of starting in 10 role even after he had a stellar performance against Palace.

To be fair Eggs, he has the difficult task of displacing one of our best two attacking players, it's not that easy really.

This is where we disagree , you keep saying “ if Dibbling was any good Moyes would pick him” . I think you’re absolving Moyes of any responsibility of developing him, your “ There’s no development strategy at play here” is absolutely right, my point is there should be. Moyes and the coaches need to work harder with him, he doesn’t have Grealish’s experience where he could say “ Im playing you on the left, just do your own thing “

I agree with your “ he’s done nothing to earn more game time”, but this is a kid with talent not a Nathan Paterson, if he doesn’t progress with us this season I will be greatly disappointed with Moyes and our coaches. I suspect we’ll continue to disagree on this !

….i’ll also be very disappointed if he doesn’t progress but I think that’ll be more down to him than others. I also think it’ll be down to him if he does turn out to be the player we want him to be.

He’s clearly a talented footballer, hopefully he starts to show that.
