2025/26 Tyler Dibling

He has tendency to play wide players with a high energy game rather than pure pace, although Mirallas was no slouch. Early years Coleman gave us pace on the break from wide areas too. Difficult to know if it's just Moyes becoming even more cautious with age or just that the players with pace aren't available at prices our owners are prepared to pay or that they won't consider non CL sides. Early years Moyes had Jags, Coleman and Dustin with pace so it was spread through the team. With this group he's not so lucky. Anyway back to Dibling. If he can't displace O'Neil within the next five games,I worry for his future.
I'm not worried about his future unless Moyes has the gig long term as Moyes will always prefer McNeil like he'll always prefer Mykolenko ahead of Aznou because they are more his kind of players

Can't see him doing any more than seeing out his contract. If Dibling can't get a start ahead of McNeil there may be other issues with him that we aren't seeing. The cryptic remark that Moyes made about him a few weeks ago doesn't fill me with confidence. 🤞🏻he can come good so at least we can recoup at least some of our outlay at the very least.

….i reached quite senior levels in the Civil Service, not quite a Senior Civil Servant but close enough. Grade where operationally I’d manage maybe 200.

Why I laughed is your assumption that Moyes isn’t a manager who ‘puts his arm around players’. It’s just this Moyes is to blame excuse without any knowledge of what he’s like.

I specifically got into the home game v Palace very early, a game which Dibling started and what stood out to me was Moyes going out onto the pitch and taking Dibling to one side. Obviously not privy to what was said, but he spoke to him one-on-one for a good 2 or 3 minutes. Said lots to me about him investing time in the youngster.

It’s not a secret, I signed for the RS as a youngster and I honestly never spoke one-to-one with a coach for 3 years. Back then their Boot Room philosophy was only wanting footballers with right mentality, I certainly didn’t but I did understand their approach and it was ultra successful. I’d be sure Moyes is different.

More generally, we hear from players how much they enjoy working with Moyes. The thought that Everton are not carefully managing Dibling and acting in his best interest seems a bit daft to me but unless you’re involved none of us truly know.
If you managed dibling would you just tell him constantly that you're disappointed with him like you mention almost everyday on here?

….erm, I’m not working with him 😄

As a fan and a poster on an Everton forum, surely it’s acceptable to post that a player has been disappointing so far. I actually think it’s an accurate descriptor, not sure how his performance can be described as anything different.

All we can hope for is a change in form, I’m not seeing many writing the lad off at this stage.

Investment in young players is obviously a good model. It only works if you find them when they are cheap. As it stands at the moment with Dibling we've paid too dollar for a young player who isn't progressing. That isn't sustainable. With some real pace out wide we may have made Europa League but to compete in that and the Prem week in week out our owners would need to invest substantially in strengthening the squad. Would they do that?
Given we appear not to be able to string two high intensity games together maybe mid table is the best position for us to finish. I honestly would love to see Dibling break into the team and be a weekly starter on merit, but if he can't dislodge McNeil it's not looking good for him.
Diblings been here for 5 minutes. Granted he hasn’t shone in the few chances he’s had but to say he isn’t progressing is a stretch. Give him a chance to settle and find his form.

He’s got prem experience but for a less demanding team and manager than he has here. He’s got the physicality for the league, just needs to find his feet and figure out how to deliver what’s expected of him.

5 minutes? Half a season, and when the manager makes the comments about his game that he did, plus he can't displace McNiel you have to be concerned.

Always look at players around an individual, if you see teammates trust and comfortably looking at you as an option, that shows alot more than what you might be seeing personally.

The lads reactions show he's got it, he just needs to bring it to the stadium turf..

This thread is ridiculous. The lad is 19. 19! He clearly has talent, and has hardly been used. All logic seems to fly out of the window, as he is expected to be some incredible player from the off.

By comparison for his position, Grealish was on loan in League 2 at the same age. Ndiaye had 1 start in 2 seasons for Sheffield United. Only now Barry looks to finally be coming good, but it took him many more games to get (relatively) up to speed. He has 4 years on Dibling.

This constant stream of criticism, does that help in any way? If your confidence is low, getting abuse or reading online that you are a disappointment is surely going to improve your form/development?

We know Moyes will hold young players back if they aren’t delivering his off the ball requirement, so not too concerned that he’s had limited opportunities or barbed comments from him - all part of the process from Moyes.

Dibling will come good

I thought it was interesting that we looked a lot more dangerous and relatively more penetrative when he came on, despite him not performing all that well

He stretched what was becoming a very congested game and he gave them something to think about, doubling up on him

He dithered a bit and seemed hesitant to lose the ball but I think that’s understandable given the treatment he’s had and lack of game time

He did produce some moments and got around his man a couple of times, his release of Barry sticks out

Would’ve been huge had he just put his foot through that chance, or managed to open his body up to get it onto his left to curl into the far post
