2025/26 Tyler Dibling

Saw a social media post yesterday saying what Ndiaye and Grealish were doing at 19

Give the lad a chance.

We're experts at setting players up to fail.
100%

And he has unquestionably been set up to fail in a lot of the games he started.

But he did have a natural full back yesterday and I dont think we should ever excuse a performance where I dont think the player put in enough effort and commitment for the team.

It works both ways. It's not all the club and thr player needs to show a bit of fight and determination

Absolutely spot on.

He has always had a languid, lazy style of playing though, that's just his way (Saints fans will tell you this and it used to frustrate the hell out of them) Our fans want players to put a shift in and he is the type that will wind people up just because of the way he plays. I think he is one of those players who probably is too good for the Championship but not good enough for the PL. People can go on about treatment from the manager (which has been poor) but you don't just forget too play, this is professional level sport and he looks lost out there at times.

He's not going to make it in the premier league unless he is willing to adapt and work hard. Most players in this league talented. It only takes you so far.

I'm neutral on why Dibling has made no impact to date. Is it the player? Is it the manager? I don't know. Nobody really does. He's 19, he - unlike the manager - has some time to improve. Maybe he will, maybe he won't.

One thing I am sure of, though, is that we had no business whatsoever spending a third of our budget on "potential" and "the future" when we didn't have enough players for the present. Moyes and Kinnear need sacking for that decision. A dereliction of duty. Massively irresponsible when we couldn't sign a full back.

I'm sure it doesn't.

Why exactly?
The feedback that he was good and direct when he first came through. Then he spent sometime on the bench and came back like he wanted to do anything other than play football. Seems their fan base was split and a lot felt like he didn’t put the effort in and it rubbed the fans up the wrong way

Their playing style changed as did the manager.

He needs to have consistent game time and a manager who believes in him

Its been like that for years with Xfactor players...they need the love.

No more so than kids thesedays

Signing him was one thing but how long it took suggested no one was really sure and it then turns into a panic buy when it was clear hardly anyone was coming through the door. All points to a mess of a summer.

He’s played 320 minutes in the league at the moment, three and a half games in bits and bats. It currently looks like he’s got no rhythm, little understanding of his teammates and is having a bit of a crisis. As long as he’s being properly supported off the pitch tho, I’m absolutely convinced he’ll turn out to be a fantastic signing for us as the things he does have are things that can’t be learnt or even worked on that much - balance, an appreciation of space, vision etc. Obviously these haven’t been much in evidence in a blue shirt so far, but they will be before too long and everyone will see exactly how good he is. The likes of Dibling and Armstrong are, in my opinion, going to be amongst the best in Europe. It’ll take time tho!
