It's clearly bad news that we won't get Dibling because we now still have no right wide player even though its the most important position in the squad. And all other clubs know we are absolutely desperate.

But you just can't agree to a deal like that. It's clearly bad value for the club and also would set a precedent that we will roll over in negotiations.

The problem is that we left it far too late to try sign Dibling. Now we are in big trouble.

It's also another clear piece of evidence why waiting to August does NOT result in better transfer value.

I agree with the point overall. I think it's just the way it's been played out in the media. With the Branthwaite chase it was clear from the start that we had a set price for him to be matched. With the way this saga has played out, it has appeared as if Southampton have shifted goalposts on what that price to be matched was. Perhaps that's the media doing that rather than Southampton though.

We waited to August to try get Dibling. Or at least the last day or two of July any way.

I'm not sure trying to sign players who were never going to join everton is a great excuse for them. At least with Dibling it seems he wanted to join Everton. But we could have got into these negotiations with Southampton a month ago and knew this deal was not feasible.

Unfortunately now we are 10 days from having to register a squad for Leeds and they still haven't got moyes a right sided player.

I think it's unacceptable to be honest. Have no faith they know what they are doing.
