Transfer Rumour Tyler Dibling

I wonder what’s happening in the Dibling thread that’s a lot of posts this morning…

Imagine someone toasting the happy couple at a wedding and there was 5 of them.

And what did I say? He was unproven in premier league. Which is correct and a completely reasonable thing to say both factually and more generally given the number of foreign players who come here with big reputations from certain league and don't reproduce the same form here as elsewhere. Again, pay more attention.
You added a caveat to the original discussion, which you weren't a part of. I wasn't addressing your PL proven point, because it's not relevant. Were he PL proven with the record he has, he'd likely be worth more than Liverpool have paid.

I understand your point, I'm just not giving it any credibility because, as I and others have pointed out, it's not a good one.

Anyway... Dibling. PL proven so get paying that huge money.

Just ignore in future then pal rather than trying to protect your ego. It’s a waste of both our timer but especially mine.

Unless this lad turns into the reincarnation of Gareth Bale, I'd be happier spending that vast amount of money (as its been suggested) on a Kubo or some other player with genuine proven ability. Should be an interesting week though, so lets see.
There’s been a lot of “just go get Kubo” shouts but I think it would be a much worse idea (I appreciate you are just using him as an example).

For starters he’s 5 years older which doesn’t make him old for a footballer but is getting into prime age for a winger. It’s definitely the position that skews youngest in terms of value etc. It’s pretty rare unless it’s a superstar to see wingers go for massive money in their late 20s.

Personally I think if you pay 50m for Kubo at 24 that’s more likely than not the most anyone will ever pay for him and while resale value isn’t the only factor for Everton it’s a big big factor. Our model shouldn’t be buying at peak value.

Kubo by all accounts only had an OK season and 5 goals and 0 assists in La Liga isn’t that impressive. I guess maybe we thought we could buy the dip but 50m isn’t buying the dip. You’re probably paying almost twice what you should to cover the fact Sociedad only get half the money.

Dibling obviously is a risk because someone who has recently turned 19 isn’t going to have a body of work. That’s where you rely on your in depth scouting at all the levels he’s played at. But based on reputation and the interest and valuations he’s had in the past you probably get one window where you have a shot at getting him and this is it. By the time a kid like him gets to the proven ability stage he’s long long gone from our grasp. If the scouting says he’s an elite talent this is your shot.

It’s scary numbers but if the judgement is he’s got elite potential maybe you have to be bold.
