TV Series

Binge watched the brilliance that is Rick and Morty over the past week. So many incredible episodes. This scene in particular gets me everytime.

And now I've finished that I've been watching the totally different The Expanse, which is also very good.

If you read then definitely pick up the books. The world building and attention to detail is outstanding.

Yep, the books are very good. I think the two authors are something to do with George R. Martin (screenwriters?).

The back story is this: One of the two lads was putting together a concept for a sci-fi type Risk strategy boardgame. He invited his mate, who happened to be George R.R. Martin's assistant, over to come take a look at what he had put together. His mate took a look at all the material he had put together and told him that he'd done more research than most people usually do to write a series of novels. That's where it grew from. The took turns writing different chapters/characters independently and then sending them to each other to review.

That amount of research and thought that went into building the world is apparent in all of the books and the TV show when it comes to things like physiological differences from living in space, various physics conundrums, all to make it as accurate and well-thought out as possible.

Might have been originally aired a couple of years ago now, but just finished season 3 of The Americans. Outstanding relatively little-known series with much more depth than a simple 'spy thriller'.

ITV ran the first couple of seasons, and I followed it avidly. Reckon they weren't getting the viewing figures as they haven't picked up the later seasons. Are they all on You Tube?

Something a bit leftfield but I highly recommend "The Churchmen" on Netflix (in the International section so in French with subs) about a group of 5 trainee priests at a Capuchin Seminary in Paris. It is a drama series, not a documentary.

Slightly slow to start with but lots of intrigue, plotting, and gossip and well worth watching.

Also been watching Chuck (i.e. the spy one) for the first time through.
Very watchable, not exactly one that makes you think but enjoyable despite that.
