Transfer Window Assessment

While I'm sat by my swimming pool relaxing and following the daily successes I enjoy...

You cant do simple maths....tell me were you the lad from Manchester who put in a bid to bill for the club from his bedsit.

...and you're still living in the 80's when the money in football wasn't what it was today.

Feel free to join us in the 21st century in the NOW where the transfer window, the money in the game, and that lack of funds that Everton have are relevant to any of your posts.

If the loan fees for Barry and Lukaku do indeed come to anywhere near £10m then we're a joke of a club who have actually "panic loaned".

That just can't be true surely?

We had the lowest net spend in the league. Really happy with tye players brought in. 7 all together. But we spent in the region of £25m will brought in £35...ish. so I ask. Wheres the placing money from last season. Ann where's the television money..

somethings very wrong at this club...

well wages will be a fortune but that wont really count as you have to pay wages even to players you own, we have lost Fellaini and Neville and Moyes who were on huge wages. Barry and Lukaku wages will be around 6 million, the fees will be around 2 million for Lukaku, same as the Moses fee. Barry fee is supposed to be free. If we have brought these two, then we would be looking at around 40 million including wages and a fee for Lukaku. This is great business, so if you're looking for something to moan about, you're barking up the wrong tree.

Loans with no buying option never sit easy with me. A good analogy I read the other day was a good one, it's like having a quick drive in your boss' Bentley knowing you'll never actually get to own it.

I think people are going way over the top just because we have got Lukaku on loan. We still sold Fellaini and failed to invest more than half of the funds, and we went and bought yet another Wigan player who is far from proven. I'm happy because I thought things would be far worse than this, but I think it was far from being a fantastic transfer window.

Time will tell, but this is the best I've felt since John Moores took over and we bought Alex Parker, Bobby Collins and Roy Vernon.

That launched one of the most spectacular eras in Everton's history. What do you think. Steve Wigan?

Look, loans aren't perfect but I don't think Barry will be going back to City and with the left over money and TV money we might be able to make Lukaku permanent.

There is no hate. Without the Lukaku loan people would be going mad at how we have failed to spend more than half the Fellaini money and used it to spend yet another Wigan player. People are getting caught up in the excitement, which is fair enough, but you couldn't call it an ideal transfer window.

What? With half an hour to go?

I keep hearing about using transfer fees going to pay off debt, and yes, some of it has in the past, but our debt is relatively small.

It's by no means certain, IMO, that the profit we've shown in this window won't be made available to Martinez.

Barry won't have had a loan fee & the rumoured figure for Lukaku's fee is £3m. I'd imagine they've included the wage contributions into the total figure there. £3m loan fee plus 2x £70k per week wage packets = £10m

Lads, the R's paid a £10million loan fee, before wages for Nuri Sahin who then never played.

Edit: or was it £5million? Either way we'll actually get use out of our loan signings, and if the only way we could get in the players we needed at this point was through loaning them the I'm ok witht that

Wages should never be factored into loan signings we have a wage budget for a reason!. Heck if you did that for transfers you might as well include the cost and length of a players contract as well.

At least you get to drive one tho... Tis better to have loved and lost...

good, although it's a bit worrying that three of the signings are only loan deals. this doesn't really help us build a long term squad.

6m for Victor was undoubtedly good business, pity it wasn't Jelavic instead.

27.5m for Felliani is a decent price, nowhere near what Levy would have got for him though and we will miss the big fella.'

Lots of people on this forum have been crying out for Lukaku and there is no doubt we have a gem there but only for a season, then what ?

Barry will add some bite to midfield, kinda like Pip at the same age but again it's only a loan.

McCarthy .. we've had our pants well pulled down there. I don't understand why we paid so much, especially as there didn't seem to be that many interested in him and his stock has fallen somewhat since Christmas.

Migrating the spine of a team that got relegated last year doesn't seem like an improvement to a team that finished sixth. It's a 20m net 'saving', what business gets better when you sell your best assets and 'pocket' the money ? I hope that we defy the odds.

Sorry but no pats on the back from me.
