Flo was another."Flo was bought for the relatively small fee of £300,000 by Chelsea in the summer of 1997. Flo would have become a Bosman at the end of the year, which influenced the small transfer fee. Everton had made a bid of around tenfold, but then Everton manager Joe Royle fell out with his boardroom over the proposed transfer and shortly afterwards resigned."
Then the 1.5 for Dublin which the board wouldn't let Kendall pay.
"Dublin went on to join Coventry, for whom he scored 73 goals in 171 appearances before joining Aston Villa for the then considerable sum of £5.75m"

They just go on and on..

That Brazilian Muller flew over to sign but didn't realise the 20k we offered was before tax and also that u21 borax we signed a few years ago who couldn't get a work permit but we signed him anyway.

All too young to remember we didn't get Billy Bremner or a young Kenny Dalglish.. the 1970s would have been a whole lot different with Dalglish in the side.

But you probably remember Martin Dahlin who ended up at Blackburn. And who could possibly forget the Joao Moutinho saga with the attendant price arguments.
Don't forget Peter Shilton as well, rumour has it that the night before he signed, an envelope stuffed full of colourful notes arrived at his house from Brian Clough. The next day he signed for Forest instead.

Fernando was a good one.

Martinez spends a few hours in a work permit hearing, only for Fernando to post on Instagram that's he committed to Porto.

The next summer he signs for City.
