Tottenham Hotspur

Newcastle under Mike Ashley would be considered a mismanaged club to put it politely. Spurs would be fine sadly, I wish you were all correct and they’d do a Sheff Wed but they won’t.
a man who spewed into fireplaces and would have naps under tables during board meetings was able to successfully have a terrible Newcastle team promoted piss easily.

But it hasn’t though? Burnley piss it every time they go down and then finish bottom of the Premier League instantly. The quality of the league is terrible. Spurs would come straight back up, they would buy all the best players from every rival just like Newcastle did twice. No idea why people are trying to convince themselves otherwise.

Got to say I agree. They will need a squad overhaul though. It shouldn't be too difficult. I'd personally approach it by everbody on big money being for sale apart from Solanke. Build a team around him. Not that I particuarly rate him, but he'll score 20-30 in that league.

It is a fair point, I certainly don't think they would do a Sheff Wed, although would not have it off the table, but there is a chance that they may not find it all that easy.

Most likely you are right, just think that the squad overhaul that would be needed is going to put that guarantee of straight back under pressure.

It would be interesting to see how many players stayed with Newcastle, and what the squad overhaul was like, compared to what is likely under Spurs. Different types of mismanagement? Not buying good enough players while in the Prem, so keeping the core squad but them being good enough for the Championship and only needing to add a bit more 2nd tier quality to a few areas. Compared to buying good enough players, that won't want to stay in the Championship, but other things going wrong.

It will certainly be an interesting watch, if they do go down. Maybe another Netflix jinx like with Sunderland  .

Glad to see the conversation is coming back on track now, Spurs are trucked and they are heading down. Nobody is opening or closing the door for them other than themselves..

I Just want to know if 'Neiler' found out if his long time childhood friend was Irish or not, cos that could really change the script..

Has your ma changed her phone number?

Go and pitch the idea that Newcastle were a well run and stable club under Mike Ashley to their fans and see what response you get. (I used to say this on here to their fans to wind them up tbh)
The fans aren't the best gauge here as they demand success year in year out which isn't possible. However MA did take a club that was a financial basketcase and made them self sufficient up to the point he sold them for a massive profit. I know thats a very desensitised way of describing that NU period but he helped the club more than he hindered it.

In Tottenham, I'd be more interested to see if they can turn things around in the Championship, should they end up there. The supporters want a Board /Owner change and I think they are about to go into a civil war with the fans that will hinder any on field progress. Its exactly the same prediciment we need to avoid for a decade or so to get the new Stadium payments under control.

Just for context, Ben Davies would genuinely be one of the best players in the Championship. They wouldn’t need an enormous overhaul I don’t think, they’d sell about 6 of their big name players but the rest would stay/not be bought.

I think there are 9 looking out or having to leave due to their wages. I know most of the player contracts have relegation clauses in them but the players won't want to play in the Championship. Also, they cannot play as a team.

6 teams in the playoffs next season so 8th place has a very good shot at promotion. Spurs would bounce straight back.
That could certainly help them if they dont get an automatic spot. However, I just read about how that system would work. 3rd and 4th go straight to the semi finals and 5th plays 8th and 6th plays 7th to see who qualifies for the second semi. It's potentially adding more lottery to the whole playoffs.

It'll certainly provide more money to the Championship though.

Couldn't believe how bad they were yesterday and how lacking in intensity they were. It was as if it was a dead rubber game as some have already said and I honestly am now thinking they're going down, whereas before I was thinking they'll have enough to get out of it and will just about stay up, but the other teams above them are scrapping hard and picking up points, where you might not expect them to. I'm struggling to see where Spurs win their next game, Wolves perhaps (who may be relegated by the time Spurs play them), but even then it wouldn't shock me if they didn't win that one.
