Tottenham Hotspur

Not all clubs go down and come straight back up. Newcastle last played in the Championship a decade ago nearly and its changed a lot since then competitively. You’re kidding yourself trying to convince yourself otherwise.

But it hasn’t though? Burnley piss it every time they go down and then finish bottom of the Premier League instantly. The quality of the league is terrible. Spurs would come straight back up, they would buy all the best players from every rival just like Newcastle did twice. No idea why people are trying to convince themselves otherwise.

@Mike82, I'm not going to get into a shouting match over which of us has the better crystal ball, especially over a side I have zero feeling for. But if Spurs do not bounce straight back up, they could be in difficulties financially with the debt levels they have. I think we could possibly be looking at a Leeds or Sheff Wed event here.

Their board have not shown that they can make any good footballing decisions so for that to change if they get relegated is a reach for me.

We wouldn’t be mate but ok, happy to leave it here.

We can’t really say Spurs won’t make the right decisions to get themselves promoted before they’re even relegated.
I agree with that.

Just like we can't say that they will bounce straight back up. Hence the crystal ball reference.
And that.

It's very hard to predict - but I certainly think there's no guarantee Spurs bounce straight back - especially given their recruitment has been so bad that they've gone from untouchable Super League 6 to prime relegation candidates in a handful of seasons under their stewardship.

I don’t agree with that at all. Newcastle went down twice and both times absolutely blitzed the Championship first time of asking. Spurs would do the same and you’re kidding yourself trying to convince yourself otherwise.

I am not as confident as you.

They may have the financial clout but you have to account for mismanagement. The recruitment effort is going to be huge and there are too many working parts for there not to be chance of it going horribly wrong. The whole squad would require changing, it is difficult enough bedding in more than 5/6 players, never mind 15/16.

Everything will have to go right for them to blitz the league. If they can get the right balance of potential and 2nd tier experience then all should be good, as they will be able to go for the better targets, but even that would not guarantee coming straight back up.

Newcastle under Mike Ashley would be considered a mismanaged club to put it politely. Spurs would be fine sadly, I wish you were all correct and they’d do a Sheff Wed but they won’t.
