Top Four Possibility

The last time I took a look at the league and thought "if we win today..." we got about one point from the following 9 games, it would be ace to see us having a good old crack at it though.

We're great when as at present we are "coasting", there's no real pressure at the minute,"if" we get in sight of the big prize we will have to for once, "grow a set" and step up to the plate, show we actually mean business, by obtaining results against the likes of Spurs/Arsenal/Chelsea/Man U and the other lot, it's a big ask, but not impossible, however as someone stated previously, with our "big game" mentality over the last few years it would appear unlikely, prove us all wrong blues:)
Exactly, we are a poor man's Arsenal. They choke until they can't win the league, we choke until we can't get Top 4.

Not a chance. 6th is the best we can hope for in my opinion but I doubt we will do that.

Most likely we will get 0 points from 12 from Spurs, Liverpool, Man United and Arsenal.

This is Everton, you know full well we'll draw with Spurs United and Arsenal benefitting neither ourselves or them whilst gifting Liverpool another 3 points for their top 4 race. 6 points a season for the RS whilst we take points off their competitors most games, typical Everton.

If we beat Stoke tonight, were only 7 points off 4th and given the recent form of the sides ahead of us apart from Chelsea, is 4th place achievable as currently were the most inform team in the league.

We are the inform team in the league apart from Chelsea... the teams above us are not playing well and dropping points...

So even with our good form and their bad form ... will still need a win to close the gap to 7?

I would love 4th but that is a very ambitious and pretty much impossible goal... but I'm sure most of us realise that

We've got a relatively benign run of fixture between here and the end of March, with only Spurs as a fixture to worry us. In the same time, Man Utd have some hard league games, plus 3 cup competitions to occupy themselves with.

We could go to Anfield and Old Trafford at the start of April in a decent position. Got to take each game at a time though, as Everton have a long track record in recent years of getting into positions of promise and choking when the pressure is on. At the moment, pressure is largely off and we're playing well. When the pressure/expectations are on, it may be different. Lets see.

Knowing us... will probably will go to old Trafford and anfield in a good position.... then get beat and all that hope that came from nowhere will have us feeling worse than if we never caught them in the first place...

This is Everton

United obviously smash Hull tonight, and City likely win beat West Ham. I think if we don't win we can forget top 6.

West ham since the stuff with payet have actually looked miles better, they actually look now like a team and caroll will batter that city defense, United should thump hull though but I thought that in the cup as well and they didn't.

Nearly 40 years and counting
And you are still optimistic - hats off to you.

Been supporting those lovely boys in blue since the 70's and had any post Cat and Howard optimism ground out of me , lets see around the Mike Walker era I think.

If you think we are in better form than Man U I suggest you either watch more football or check your stats

there is a chance, however very small. if you count the points we can gain and the points the top 4 can gain then there is a chance.

True, but very deluded if our fanbase thinks the feat is achievable this season for the following reasons...

We have finished in the top 4 once in the Premier League era.

We have to play 4 out of the top 6 away from home where our record stands like this since the PL started: 3 wins in 24 at Spurs, 1 win in 24 at Arsenal, 2 wins in 24 at Liverpool, 2 wins in 24 at Man United.

6th place is a more realistic aim. Would be content with 7th this season though.

IF we beat Stoke, I might think theres an outside chance. Because beating Stoke would be un-everton like, especially after a good stretch of games, followed by a window where we probably needed 1-2 more players, and where everything in the past screams this will game will be a let-down.

You seen United's last three league games? Last second equaliser at stoke, late equaliser against the rs when they should have lost on balance and a west ham where robbed with a ridiculous red card when looking the better team.
